        Anhui’s consumer goods imports up 9.5% in Jan-Feb

        East China's Anhui imported 2.94 billion yuan (US$449.8 million) of consumer goods in the first two months of 2021, up 9.5 percent from the same period a year ago, customs data showed.

        The figure accounted for 7.7 percent of the province's total import value in the same period, according to Hefei Customs.

        Consumer goods include food, clothes, furniture, vehicles and cultural products.

        Anhui-based private enterprises imported consumer goods worth 1.77 billion yuan from January to February, representing a surge of 270.5 percent year on year. It made up 60.4 percent of the provincial total.

        Meanwhile, state-owned enterprises posted an increase of 26.4 percent to 960 million yuan, while foreign-funded enterprises’ consumer goods imports reached 210 million yuan, down 85.7 percent.

        The province’s consumer goods imports from the EU countries skyrocketed 220.6 percent to hit 730 million yuan in the Jan-Feb period, and those from the RCEP countries rose 13.5 percent to 740 million yuan.

        During the same period, the province imported 570 million yuan of consumer goods from Brazil, up 65.2 percent, and 500 million yuan of consumer goods from New Zealand, up 55.6 percent. Its imports from the US declined 58.6 percent to 400 million yuan.
